Douzelage European Town Twinning

Douzelage European Town Twinning is a Dutch organization founded in 1991 that connects twenty-eight partner towns across Europe through music, culture, sport, and education to foster unity and cooperation among citizens.

• History: The association originated from the twinning of Sherborne (UK) and Granville (France), holding its inaugural meeting on May 20th, 1991, in Granville with representatives from twelve towns.
• Activities: Douzelage hosts annual general meetings, organizes festivals such as the Young Musician's Festival and Festival of Europe, and supports local events like the Pfingstritt in Bad Kötzting.
• Structure: The network operates under an Executive Board led by elected representatives from member towns, supported by working groups focused on themes including sustainability, youth engagement, and digital innovation.

The organization actively encourages schools, organizations, and individual citizens to participate in its inclusive programs that transcend national boundaries.
