Asociace Dítě a Rodina

Asociace Dítě a Rodina is a Czech non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for children at risk of removal from their families and promoting legislative changes to strengthen family-based care systems. Founded over ten years ago, it unites more than 100 organizations across the Czech Republic to prevent institutionalization and ensure children are not marginalized within social services.

• Mission: The association believes children should grow up at home whenever possible, focusing on early prevention to resolve issues before they escalate into crises.
• Impact: Annually, approximately 3,000 children are taken from their families, with 7,000 currently living in institutional care while only 36 out of every 100 removed children remain outside institutions long-term.
• Advocacy: The group actively initiates legislative reforms and highlights systemic weaknesses by participating in events like the Eurochild Annual General Assembly and issuing open letters regarding housing laws.

The organization continues to work toward a system where family preservation is prioritized over institutional placement for vulnerable youth.
